I have a number of raster shapes (sillouhettes of hats) on photoshop layers and need to get these into flash so i can make them morph into each other 1-2-3-4-5 etc.

I am at a loss as to how to get them into flash as editable shapes

I’ve tried every logical method of exporting – ai/eps/png/gif and even the PDF2FLA plugin but to no avail – when i get the thing into flash and right click and break apart, I alwasy have the rectangle surrounding each hat as part of the broken up image and so i cannot extract the hat shape. I’ve also tried selecting the hat shap in PS and pasting into flash but it pastes it as a rectangle, cropped to the edges of the hat shape.

I really don’t want to draw these again in flash – anyone have any clues?

Thanks 🙂

Jon

Hi Jon,

I haven’t done this, but it should work to save your images as eps files and import them into Flash. Director supports eps via plugins: http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id =tn_15022

Hi mike,

Thanks for the tip – I’ve tried this but it still retains the cropping rectangle around it – I gave up in the end and traced over all 45 of em in Flash (well I’m 8 into it and going strong!)

Cheers again,

jon

Have you tried trace bitmap? play with the settings until you get the accuracy you need.

Hi KoperniK,

I posted this in the other NG your question appeared in-

ok here is what you do:

1. in PS select the object you want to import into Flash and copy it to the clipboard
2. in Flash, choose Paste Special and choose the option "as Device Independant Bitmap"
3. Click on Modify (menu) > Bitmap > trace bitmap
4. adjust any settings there you feel necessary and click OK
5. click on the white area outside your hat (in this case) and delete it. That is the white shaded area that used to be the bounding box around your bitmap.

All is done.

Regards,
Brian.
