Thank you for reading this. I’ve been looking at several photo manipulation software packages lately, basically the ones you can download and try before buying, and probably none as sophisticated as Photoshop. The other day I had one that allowed shaped-selection of an area of the picture – ie; oval, circle, rounded-corner rectangle, etc. I had never seen that before and was impressed (perhaps too easily. Anyway I’ve forgotten what the package was, and since I always restore my drive to a pre-installation time after trying this type of stuff, I’m at a loss.

Can anyone give me the name (or names) of programs that have this feature? I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks.

next time try using add/remove program, system restore is kind of drastic just to remove a trial program. If you want totally clean uninstalls every time there are progs that do that more thoroughly.
Try using your internet history button
mine shows all the websites I visited for a couple weeks

Hi John,

I have tried MANY imaging programmes over the years and I don’t think I have ever come across one that does not have the basic ‘selection’ features you are talking of here.

Regards,
Brian.

Just buy the photoshop and be done with it. I say this because if you can describe what you want to do, this program can do it. As a matter of fact I have never come across a situation where I have said I can’t believe photoshop cannot do this.

I agree with Brian, most of them can do this.
You can use a shape selection on any open image and invert that selection/cut and you are only left with whatever was inside your selection.
You can use any preset shape, vector shape and there are thousands of them out there!
Was it PSP?
