I am trying to do this tutorial, and they are asking to use the default settings for this filter. Is there a way I can reset the filters so they show the default settings onload? or is there an online resource were i could find the default settings for the filter? thanks alot. FYI its Filter>Distort>Wave that i need the default settings for. Thanks again in advance.

Once you open the filter, press the Alt key. The Cancel button will then change to Reset.

That only resets to last settings YOU used, not default.

I don’t think there IS a way to get back to default filter settings, short of deleting prefs. Even Reset All Tools doesn’t affect filters.

Maybe someone else knows a way? (couldn’t find in manual).

Thanks, Mac, I didn’t realize that. Does seem like there should be a way to reset to default, though.

Well, I was looking around and for Paint Shop pro, while its starting up, you press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT to restore ALL of the defaults. So I tried this on Photoshop and it worked…though it restored everything, brushes, filters you name it. Maybe Adobe could invest in a little time to add a "Reset" button on all the filters for the next version? Just a thought 🙂

Or perhaps whoever wrote the tutorial you referenced in your original post might have been helpful enough to explain what the "default" settings for the filter involved were supposed to be, instead of merely telling you to use the default.
