Hi all

I have several images of a model where I have to change the colour of her stockings. No matter what i do, it just does not look right.

I have done google searches for this but can’t come up with anything, so I thought the guys here might come up with some advice – layering, blend modes, etc.

While I’m here, I have promised to make some slides for an artist to project onto a wall to trace around as the basis for a mural. However, it has just dawned on me that I don’t possess a film camera any more!

Is there some type of transparency film I can print onto then slide mount to use in my projector?

Thanks for your time.

Use a color layer with blending options to color only the darker areas of the original image. Split the white slider by alt clicking and dragging to get rid of any fringes. Use lighten mode to reduce fringing further confine the changes to the mesh, and back off on the layer transparency. If other objects in the original are colored, use a layer mask to exclude them.

Have a service bureau convert your digital images to slides. Generally they want an sRGB image. Allow enough time for a redo.

For this type of project, it’s far easier to use one of those projectors where you put the art work under the projector and mirrors reflect the image on the wall. See:
http://www.pearlpaint.com/shop_details~ocID~~parentID~4490~c ategoryID~4489~sku~629879.htm for one available at Pearl Art for $42. I’ve seen them for half that toy stores.

This is a common way of creating stage scenery. A drawing or a photograph is printed on a regular sheet of 8.5 x 11 paper and then projected on the surface of the scenery stock, which is just propped up against the wall, and then the outline is traced in with markers and then painted. The size is determined on how far away you place the projector from the material.
