image scroll lock?

Is there a way to lock the scroll on images in PS, I have CS if it helps. I would like to zoom in on an image and have the scrolling lock so that i can use tools and not have the image all of a sudden scroll all the way to the top or side, etc when i am getting close to the edge. I hope this makes sense.

I am not aware of a way to "lock" the canvas, but if you use the spacebar while on any tool, it temporarily switches to the hand tool, which allows you to move the canvas where you want it. Also, if you hit the "F" key, it switches to "Full Screen Mode" which gives you more space to work in.
