Hello,

I use Photoshop CS2 and have the following error:
"Disk error -108 occured while reading or writing to a scratch disk… Sorry, but this error is unrecoverable…"
Followed by "cannot handle your request because of a program error."

Can anyone help or has anyone the same problem?
I have put more memory in (1GB) and it takes longer before the error occurres, but it is still there!
Disk problem? Memory problem?

Thanks in advance,
Hans

Disk problem. Bad spot on the disk, serious disk directory error, or your hard disk is beginning to fail. Backup and repair or replace that disk pronto!

Error 108 is not related to disk integrity. It means "The disk is in use or locked by another process."

This is a guess, but is it conceivable that your scratch disk is being used by another program, perhaps via the network? For example, two copies of Photoshop running on separate systems, sharing the same scratch disk via a network might cause this Using a network drive as a scratch disk is a poor choice in any case.

Hello again,

Thanks for your reply!
The disk wasn’t bad.
When I’ve putted more memory it took longer before the error occurred but it dit still did.
I also tried to change the amount of memory used by the scratch disk, but it didn’t help either.
Reinstalling PhotoShop program (suite) solved the problem. So, I couldn’t determinate the exact cause. Maybe one of the plug-ins caused it.

Even with the scratch disk being used on two separate systems, sharing the same scratch disk via a
network works now!

Thanks again for the suggestions.
