I have 2 images that I am using for a displacement map project, I have looked at tutorials who suggest image size and resolution are identical, I can resize both images, but one of them is 96dpi and the other is 72 dpi, how can I make them the same, either reducing the larger or increasing the smaller resolution.

Image>Image Size.

The question is whether you want Resample checked or not. This depends on the pixel dimensions, which I am assuming you want to be the same for both?

Then just check the ‘resample image’ option on the biggest image and give both images the same size AND resolution (i.e. the same pixel dimensions).
