I sometimes use photoshop on my notebook pc (e-machine w/9600 ATI graphics card). Can anyone provide advice on how best to calibrate my notebook monitor for using p-shop? My graphics software gives me the option to use Adobe 1998 color space. There is no color temp control & no contrast setting. I certainly don’t expect the same clarity as with my CRT monitor, but does anyone out there have experience with notebook calibration?
Thanks,
-Ben

Ben,

I can only offer that the ATI video driver offers some gamma and color adjustment capabilities through the Advanced dialog of the Display Properties. You might be able to use that to get more accurate color, but I’ve never tried it myself. My observations on my Gateway laptop have been that those controls provided by the driver seem almost exaggerated in their response and I just stick to the default values. As the result, I limit most PS editing on a laptop to non-color edits as much as possible, and then take care of color edits later on my desktop. Another alternative would be to connect a CRT to the laptop, if that’s a viable option for you.

Daryl
