Hi all,

Before I am beaten up too badly here for asking a simple question, please understand that I am a newbie to Photoshop period!

I have just downloaded about 2000 fonts that I wanted to add to Photoshop. But I noticed that the photoshop fonts are a little different than the fonts in my windows folder. Is there another place where I have to put these fonts so that Photoshop recognizes and lists them or can I just put these .ttf fonts into the Windows>Fonts folder and leave them there? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have already looked in my Adobe folder under my program files and didn’t find a specific fonts folder for Photoshop. I have tried all of options and have come here for help. Thanks in advance.

You will do this iby going to: Start / settings / Control panel / Fonts / File / Install new fonts./ reboot. Photoshop will share the fonts.

Yeah. All you need to do is "Install" the fonts to Window’s Fonts folder. Then restart Photoshop. Keep in mind, Photoshop is going to slow down considerably because it needs to log every single font file prior to startup.

I’d say. You may take a look at purchasing some font management software. That’s a heck of a lot of fonts.

Ask yourself how many you’ll ever use. Bear in mind that the rules of composition abhor more than 2 or 3 fonts on a page of text unless it’s for special effect. Only load what you think you’ll need. So many programs install fonts without asking you’ll end up with a lot more than you want anyway.

Either get a good font manager or obtain samples of your 2000 so you can pick the ones you like. Also bear in mind that cheap or free fonts can be corrupt and cause serious problems with the OS, and applications like Photoshop.

as a newbie, take some advice from an oldbie… you DO NOT need all those fonts. pare it down to just a couple hundred. a few dozen is even better.

whatever you do, don’t try to load them all at once! if you have 1 bad font in the lot, it’ll be a nightmare trying to find it! load a few dozen at a time, then start photoshop. if it hangs reading fonts, you’ll only have to back out and sort through the last batch of a few dozen rather than thousands! how often do you get bad fonts, you ask? 🙂 quite often, when they’re the free kind.

you DO NOT need all those fonts.

In fact, dave just has Comic Sans on his system.
