In CS one can create an Acrobat Slide Show. Using File Browser I can inport thumbnails and arrange them in the order I desire for a slide show. Problem is that when I hit "make slide show" it will only convert 31 images. Anything over that is rejected.
How can I make a presentation of say 50 or so images ??

Slide shows aren’t limited to 31 or fewer images, so the cause isn’t the number of images. Are you getting any error messages from Photoshop? Can you open the 32nd image in Photoshop?

All images open in Photoshop. They were all created, sized etc in Photoshop. I have a file of 39 images that I import in File Browser. If I remove any 8 images they all end up in the slide show. If I leave them all in, the last 8 are not converted to a slide show. The error message indicates that 8 images "are not image files or are not pdf files created in Photoshop". But this is not true. As I say I can remove ANY 8 images and the program will run a slide show with all 31 images. Strange. I thought that maybe the program had a limit of 31 images or a file size limatation

Are your source images very large (e.g. 16-bit, multi-channel, etc.)? There is a limit in Acrobat of about 10 GB per file, but you may encounter problems well before that due to memory or OS limits.

You might also try creating a slideshow without going through the File Browser (under File > Automate > PDF Presentation…) to see if that makes a difference, although it shouldn’t.

I have made PDF Presentations with over 1500 pages, so the number of files is not the problem.

Average file length of each image (8 bits) is 7MB. I have 1.25 GB RAM. I tried to use file>automate>PDF but got the same problem.
I do not know what to do next. There must be something in options? Or? Don

Ray,

Would it be of any benefit to reduce EACH image to 72DPI as most screen resolutions dictate this? I’ve been using a program (Kai’s Power Show) for 3 years now and if I convert each image via batch processing the slideshow is a dream.

It also cuts down on the clients ability to copy and print the images.

If you think there is any relation between the famous 72dpi and images displayed on a computer monitor you are wrong.

That value comes from a misinformed person who made a wrong conclusion from:
A pixel is a point on the screen.
A point is 1/72th of an inch.

Actual screen resolution vary a lot. 1280×1024 on 17" LCD is about 95ppi, the same on 19"LCD is about 85ppi…

Why not buy a specialized Slide Show Program?
The best IMHO is PTE.
Download the first 5 presentations or at least No3 and watch it. It is an excellent tutorial on how to use PS to make these shows. Believe me it is worth to take a look at this. On the other hand it is also a tutorial on how to use PS. Helpful stuff in there.

I ran into a problem with the PTE. All of my images are in TIF. I shoot raw and convert to TIF for printing and better images. I note that PTE will not handle TIF. Strange.

in Photoshop go to Image-Mode-Assign Profile and select sRGB. Then use the crop tool set it to 1024 to 768 at 72 ppi for a full screen view or other dimensions for parcial view. Now do a Save for Web and select jpg with a medium quality.
This is like I do it and it works great.
Don.t forget to use Filter-Sharpen-Unsharp Mask. Amount 120, Radius 0.4 Threshold 0. This should do if.
