I need to resolve this disappearing fonts problem I have on my XP machine with photoshop. Basically what’s happening is once my system memory is starting to get taxed, i lose a bunch of fonts in photoshop. this is particularly annoying because i usually have a number of files open, and it’s a real inconvenience for me to restart the program. I researched this problem and found the resolution might be a font manager, so I downloaded Sue’s Font thing, but this isn’t the most intuitive program. I’m fine with "activating" and "deactivating certain fonts at a time, but it ain’t easy with this program.

I have about 1500 font files in c:\windows\fonts\. what is the easiest resolution here, to delete a bunch of fonts? I find it a little ridiculous that windows/photoshop can’t seem to manage this right, and i’m certainly not going to spend any money on a Font Manager to fix what appears to me as a program flaw. However, if i lose my freaking fonts one more time when i’m right in the middle of trying to get something delivered, i might put my fist through the wall. this is a huge, frustrating pain in the ass.

any suggestions?

Windows isn’t the only thing that cranks up all those 1500 fonts, every time PS loads it will load all of those fonts, all your word programs will too, etc.

put some fonts on hiatus, you can’t possibly need that many every day. learn to use the font manager
or put some in a folder and save them if and when you need them
