I have ps 3.0 on an old computer running xp. Works fine. On my new computer also running xp when I try to open ps 3. First comes up says cannot load ps9532.dll. The file is there. I have downloaded fresh version of the file and still same error. It says cannot load 16 bit images??. Do you want to continue. I click OK, then gives me an error that says not enough memory. I have 736 meg (including video card) I suspect the video card may be incompatable. I also have ps 6 running which I usually use but for some aps i prefer 3.0 for its speed in loading. It also just bugs me. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Randall: PS 3 will not run on XP, although you can try to install it in ‘compatibility mode’, but still won’t work. The problem is memory management. Don’t know why you would have problems loading PS6, how old is that computer?

I don’t think that ps 3 will not run on xp. I have two computers, both runnning xp. ps3 will not run on my newwer machine.
Also I have no problem with ps 6. Its just that I prefer ps 3 for some applications and it is just bugging me.

ps3 MIGHT run, but you’d need the 3.05 patch, AND you’d need to set the compatability mode AND you’d have to remove any memory over 512k. What’s happening is it’s reading all the memory in your machine and it’s overflowing whatever variable it uses to store the amount of free memory and it’s showing (because of the overflow) as a negative number. So it thinks you have something like -24533434 k of ram installed and is exiting.

IOW, it’s not worth it. PS Elements will blow it away anyway. Go get that. Or upgrade to ps cs for 160 (you can probably find it for 140 online) or even Paint shop pro for 69 bux. PS3 is ANCIENT. It’s value to you now is that it’s upgradable to the latest and greatest photoshop without having to buy all the versions in between!

I know what you mean. I have "Marble Madness" on 5 1/4" disks and sometimes I want to unpack the old drive and play that! 🙁

I already have ps 6 by the way.
