Anyone use ACDSee 8.0? I was dispappointed that 7.0 didn’t show preview thumbnails of PDF’s and Illustrator files. Before upgrading, I was hoping someone could tell me…

And yes – I know Adobe Bridge shows those file types in thumbnails – but I don’t like it… 🙂

Thanks!

You could always use the ‘unauthorised’ patch to get back thumbnails in Windows (assuming you are using CS) It isn’t ACDSee that has the problem – I assume it just uses the Windows menus. It is Adobe that has removed the thumbnail support .

My 7.0 previews pdf’s and psd’s.
Maybe I have a plug-in that you don’t have or something?

I no longer use ACDSee so I don’t know if the latest versions work the same way,but earlier versions of ACDSee used Ghostscript to display thumbnails of PDF’s and Illustrator files,.You need to install the correct version of Ghostscript for the version of ACDSee that you have. The ACDSee help file explains how to set it up.

Ver 7 had these features built in. with Ver 8 you have to buy the $49.95 PRO upgrade. It’s a rotten deal because ver. 8 is much faster at building thumbnails.
