Does PS keep a ‘history’ of changes for each file?

I don’t even own PS yet but saw a great demonstration yesterday. I’m wondering if PS keeps a running list of changes, in case you forget how something was done you can look back and see what you did. I’m not talking about every drag and drop, but major changes.

Just curious.

PS has a History feature but once a file is closed it disappears. You may export it as a text or metadata file however.
