I’m trying to paste into a layer mask..but when I try to paste it creates a new layer then pastes into that. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
E

(P.S. I’m trying to paste a greyscale image into the layer mask)

First, you have to be in the layer mask.

Hold down the OPTION (PC: ALT) key on your keyboard and click on the layer mask icon in the Layers palette. Now you will see the mask itself. When you hit Paste, you’ll paste into the mask.
