A dumb question; In camera RAW; As-shot vs a color temp setting

Since I got my Canon 300d and Photoshop I’ve been shooting RAW with AWB (avg white balance) set, figuring that I could, from memory, remember the light for each shot and pick it.

Recently I’ve been setting it to a specific light. Do I use "as shot" or the specific color temp in PS RAW?

I do ad-hoc walking around photography so the light can change from shot to shot.

AWB = Automatic WB so hopefully the camera makes a good guess.

It shouldn’t matter but ‘as shot’ is less work if you already decided correctly while shooting.

I do ad-hoc walking around photography so the light can change from shot to shot.

Auto white balance will get you reasonably near accurate white balance. The rest is adjustable: that is why you shoot raw.
More often than not the technically correct white balance may not be the optimal white balance for your specific aesthetic purposes.
