Soz folks…….but yes another newbie has a
question……………………….

I’ve a great picture of a lamp……not just any old lamp but one of those that emits what looks like forks of lightening from a samll dome in the centre to the outside of the lamp glass sphere when you touch it.

Now what i’d like to do is use this picture and then try and "overlay" for the want of a better word………a face over the top of it..

I’ve bought a couple of books for Photoshop 7 but I cant find anything….probably due to me not knwing what im looking for…

Anyone got any clues….

Thanks

Dave 🙂

Use Layers.

You need to get the resolution of the face the same as the globe.

Take both photos and open. Choose the Move tool (top right) click on one photo, press the Shift key and drag it into the other frame.

Press F7 (Layers), You’ll see both pictures the one on top of the other. The new layer is the one you dragged. Look for the Opacity button on the Layers pallet and reduce the opacity. You’ll see the bottom layer showing through. Now you can move the top layer over the bottom layer. Different sizes? How different? Use Image – Image size to make them the same size.

When you’re done, zoom to at least 400% and start erasing the top layer to allow the bottom layer to show through. Take it slowly, use a smallish soft eraser and keep the opacity down to around 40%. Slowly erase all the bits you don’t want.

This may sound a bit difficult but it’s easier than it sounds. Learning Photoshop is mostly "using it to do something" than studying a Photoshop Manual

Many thanks…..

within a few minutes of reading this I had a rough version of exactly what I was after.

I’ll take a bit practise but i’ll get there.

Cheers
