I used photoshop CS with Imageready a long time, and everything was fine. But suddenly the "edit in image ready" function stopped working and later even Imageready stopped working – the program starts loading, the message says "the collor palette created" and then Imageready crashes. I deleted preferences, reinstalled Photoshop, cleaned temporary files, checked system for errors, defragmented hard disk, checked system for viruses – but nothing helps. Photoshop CS runs fine, but Imageready doesn’t work at all.

I’m using windows XP, AMD athlon 2000+, 256 ram, GeForce 4MX 440

Which set of preferences did you clear, Photoshop or ImageReady?

The same set of shortcut keys work with imageready as they do with photoshop.

Will Imageready run in Diagnostic mode or Safe mode? (To get into diagonstic mode, run Msconfig from the Run menu, and on the general tab, select Diagnostic startup, then click okay. The system will restart, and upon reboot, the System Configuration Utility will appear, twice. Just close each window).

Then, try launching ImageReady.

If it works, then, go back into msconfig, and check the starup tab. It will show all the items launched when you start your system. Try checking them off a few at a time, each time, restarting the system and testing.

It may be there’s something running in the background causing the issue.

If it doesn’t work in diagnostic mode, take the next step and try safe mode.

If it DOES work in safe mode, but not any other way, remove the entire program again, and reinstall in Safe mode. Then, restart the system and try again in normal mode. (It may be that when you reinstalled the program, something was interferring with the installation. BTW, diagnostic mode doesn’t shut down the antivirus checking–they usually run as a service, however, safe mode shuts EVERYTHING down, antivirus, firewall, video drivers, etc.)

I tried everything that you’ve said but unfortunately, ImageReady didn’t run neither in Diagnostic mode, nor in Safe mode. Maybe only windows reinstalling could help me in this case.
