Animation, Image mapping. Web stuff, though over the versions a lot of it has migrated to Photoshop proper.

it comes up when you select save for web
makes sizing and saving images for internet more automated and more ‘wizard" like choices
makes animations (gif and can export as flash)
makes slices in your artwork for webpage designing

Adobe bought Macromedia, so now maybe these programs will be combined? Lot of web designers do not like Image Ready and prefer the Macromedia progs
