PHOTOSHOP CS Grouping

Hmm, not sure why you’re having this problem. I have CS, and Ctrl + and Ctrl- do indeed zoom in and out. I also tried the Ctrl-G (Group with Previous) command with a custom shape and it worked, too. With respect to the nudge, I don’t recall the Ctrl key ever being required (v6 or CS). Perhaps you were not in a mode which permits layer shifting(??). Just pushing the arrow keys moves the layer around in 1 pixel increments. Adding the Shift key moves in larger increments, 10 pixels or so.

Whatever your issue is, it is not with changes in CS, because all of the things that you mention work just fine in my default installation of CS. Try the old tried-and-true three-finger salute to reset your Preferences and see if that does the trick. BTW, there’s a nice chart of all of the PS6 shortcuts, which AFAIK are still good in 7 and CS, at
http://www.digitalretouch.org/download/hotkeys/Photoshop7Hot Keys.pdf . It doesn’t have the new ones for the new functionality in later versions, but it covers most common operations.
