Hi,

I am using Photoshop CS (8.0),
and I’ve heard about the possibility to automate certain Photoshop activities –

I got hundreds of photos that need to get resized
to 200 pixel width or height, and then compressed to 50 % quality jpg files.

How can this be done automatically with Photoshop?

I also got ACDSee – with ACDSEE this task is very easy, but the results suck – quality is lower and data size is bigger compared to Photoshop!

Thanks in advance,

Anton

Hi there Anton,

Please try the help function of PS first (which you should’ve done anyway before posting here). It’s in there and it’s pretty well explained imo. If you can’t get you things to set up right, then please post here for help.

With kind regards,

Make an action for a single image and use that for batch processing.

Fitting an image in 200 pixels is easy with the "Fit image…" function somewhere in the file->automate menu. Enter twice the value 200 and it works.

If you really mean 200 pixels on long side, I can’t imagine that quality, or lack of it, could be much of an issue. You are talking about a slightly larger than normal Thumbnail only.

Here’s what I use:
< http://www.edgehill.net/1/?SC=go.php&DIR=Misc/photograph y/raw-batch/web-batch-action> You can edit it in the action pallete manually, item by item.
