Hi everyone!

I have a picture of my daughter and her friend.

My daughter’s friend is SO pale, especially compared to my daughter. How can I give her a "tan". I tried overlay and softlight but I can’t get anything close to a "normal" color, everything seems orange or yellow. So, then I tried painting it on at 18% opacity and that looked fake. Then I tried messing with curves but it was blotchy. I know there has to be a way!

P.S. The friend is a girl from the Ukraine here to work (in Virginia Beach) for the summer, so she really wants to email this picture to her friends.

Thanks a bunch!

There may be a better way, but I’ve used this method to do exactly what you’re trying to do. First, find a color that you find suitable for the tanning color and make it your foreground color. Then select the brush tool and set the blend mode to ‘Color’. You will probably have to play with the opacity, but you can now paint on as much tan as you need. Just be careful to paint only skin; otherwise, everything you paint will be tan. Hope this helps.
