Hey all,

I ran a windows 2000 update a few weeks back and it patched my PC with a Adobe.Stream update. Now each time I launch Photoshop 7.0 just after loading the fonts at startup, Photoshop 7.0 just crashes/closes back out to windows.

Are these related to each other, Adobe.Stream and Photoshop 7.0?

I have tried installing and reinstalling, with no success.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Tim,

Adobe.Stream is an Active-X Control which will been modified by the windows update to prevent a malicious HTML file from writing an embedded EXE file out to the local disk. It is part of Internet Explorer, not Photoshop.

Your problem will be due to a bad font on your system which you will need to locate and remove. You could also try doing a system-wide search for adobefnt*.LST files and delete all you find – there can be dozens of them! They will be rebuilt automatically as required.

Also, try trashing your preferences…

Same here. Have you had success with the suggestions from Len and Tim H?

Hi D_M, so you ran a Windows Update and then Photoshop stopped functioning?

As yet no suggestions have worked, but I am removing all of my Adobe products from my PC at present, Defragmenting all the drives, Scandiskign all the drives then try reinstalling. Let you know I go.

As I had tried installing and Reinstalling Photoshop 7.0 by itself, but even a clean reinstall would not fix it.

If that doesnt work next step for me is to fdisk, reformat and reinstall windows.

I suggest you trash the preferences, too. That won’t happen from an uninstall/reinstall.
