Hi

I know that this is an old chestnut, but having looked at the groups for hours I can’t sort it out.

I’m running XP pro SP2.

When I was running PS7, right click-open opened an image in PS and right-click preview opened it in fax viewer

When I upgraded to PSCS2 I managed to associate all actions with PS, so I can now only preview with fax viewer if I use the open with command

I have got as far as Control Panel/ Folder Options/ File Types (jpg) / Advanced/ Preview/ Edit but what application should I put in " Application to be used for this action" ? (picture & fax viewer dosn’t have a normal exe does it ?)

Or am I going about this the wrong way.

To summerise: I want to open/edit images in PS and preview images in picture & fax viewer

Thanks

Tobit

this is easier now in XP
right click a jpg file
select open with but select choose program
select fax viewer
then check the box that says
always use this program to open files of this type

you can also do this in folder options file types as you say you may have to navigate to the EXE for the viewer (in windows folder)

Thanks Katwoman, but of course that permanently associates the file with fax viewer. What I am trying to get back to is the situation where the file is opened in PS and previewed in fax viewer.. It would be fine is fax viewer had a simple exe (you just set this up through folder options), but it dosen’t
