Liquify filter restarts computer

When I try to run the liquify filter my computer restarts. The filter dialog box will open then the screen goes black and windows restarts.

Specs:
Win 2000 service pack 4
Photoshop 7.0.1
P 4
512 RAM
1.60 Ghz
dual monitors
ABIT Siluro GF4 Ti4400 display adapter

I found a tech doc that sounded similar,(2256a.htm)but only photoshop restarted in the tech doc, not the whole computer. I haven’t had any other programs restart the computer.

The computer repair tech tried to replicate problem on his system, but it didn’t happen. They think a RAM stick may have a bad sector. It does sound like hardware to me. Any suggestions?

My computer allows me to work in Photoshop and will Completely Restart at various times with no warning.
