Cutting Letters Out Of A Picture

Hallo,

I want to cut letters out of a picture (using a current font), do you know how to do it? Like writing the text onto the picture and switch the colors, I know it is not as easy as I think, but I hope you can help me.

I use Photoshop 7 and Windows NT

Use the variation of the text tool that creates a selection of the letters (it is the T with dotted border). You can then cut, to replace the letters with background color, or inverse and cut, to make letters that contain bits of the image.
