Can photoshop open vector images? I want to buy an image on istockphoto.com, but the description to use Illustrator…(and I don’t have that).

Sorry, forgot to mention I am using Photoshop CS.

Can photoshop open vector images? I want to buy an image on istockphoto.com, but the description to use Illustrator…(and I don’t have that).

It depends on the file type. Photoshop can open EPS or PDF vector images, but in all cases the vectors will be rendered to pixels if you do that.

Yep. All of my cartoons are Illustrator files first and then opened in Photoshop for coloring.

Yes.

But in the process of opening it, Photoshop will rasterize it–break it up into pixels. It will no longer be vector. You will not be able to edit it like you can in a vector program.

Yes, but you won’t be able to edit the image as you normally would in illustrator. You can resize it and thats about it.
