I recently upgraded to PS CS from PS 7.0. In 7.0, I would always open my tiff files, makes color corrections, then resave to a new folder as jpegs. My photography lab requires jpeg images. However, in CS, when I open my tiff files, then do "save as" to change them to jpeg, they won’t reopen. It gives me the following message: Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document. I’m completely puzzled. I’m doing this exactly as I did before. I would appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Candice Head

try file> open as> select jpg (or tif, or whatever you think they are). if they open as jpg’s DON’T resave them. you’ll be recompressing and losing data. rename the files manually via windows explorer.

this seems to be an ongoing problem…

Thanks Dave. It seems like, even though I had resaved as jpeg, they won’t open because because they still have a tiff tag attached to them.
I’m going to try your suggestion and see what happens.
Thanks

that’s probably it then. like i said, don’t resave in PS, that’ll recompress (and jpg is a "lossy" format). rename the files in explorer to have the proper extention.
