I can save this TIF file as a PNG or as a BMP … and I don’t have any OTHER problems saving any OTHER images as JPGs. Also, I’ve tried saving the PNG and BMP files as JPG … same error message.
I have closed and restarted Photoshop … and I’ve rebooted my system. (I have not deleted my Photoshop preferences … I hate doing that unless it’s absolutely necessary.)
Anybody have a clue what curious characteristic could be in this one image that prevents it from being saved as a JPG?

8 bit or 16 bit?
You can only save as JPG if the image is 8 bit or below, you cannot save 16 bit images as JPG.
If your TIF is 16 bit, then go to IMAGE / MODE / 8 BIT, you should then be able to save as JPG.
