Monitor recommendations?

I’m pretty happy with my Viewsonic VP171b LCD monitor, but I would like to buy some more real estate and move up to something bigger, any recommendations? Should I consider a wide-screen monitor? It would be kind of cool to see full-frame 35mm images fill the entire screen, but I wouldn’t want to compromise image quality (this might be a cost-balancing factor, if you get my drift?).

Thanks!

I’m very happy with my Viewsonic 19" VX910.
It’s been in use for about a year with Photoshop use.

A little late to the mark, but FWIW, ,my Nanao recently bit the dust, and I switched to a Dell 17 inch LCD, the 1707FP. Beautiful display, and it calibrated fine with my EyeOne.
