Multible saving from .bmp to Jpeg…how to

I have this crappy point and click digi cam that saves all my images to bmp. Its getting annoying having to save each one into jpegs one by one and I was hit with the idea, hey, perhaps theres a tool that can switch all selected images from format to another.

Now my question; is there a way and if there is, how do I do it?

Record an action in PS, then play it back on entire folder of files.

But are you editing these?
If so, you know you are much better off NOT doing multiple saves of JPEG, right?
