I’ve installed Photoshop CS and activated the product, but none of the links in the help section such as register, online help, update, etc work. My high speed cable connection and browser work fine, however. Is there somewhere in the program where I set browser preferences, etc?

Turn off AutoUpdate and leave it off.

You’re better off connecting to Adobe’s site through your web browser and downloading updates manually, at your own convenience.

As for the HELP files, you should have the choice of opening the PDF version (with Acrobat Reader), or opening the HTML version. If you choose the HTML version, once you open it in your browser, make a bookmark to the Index page so you can easily access it at any time.

I don’t know why, but it seems many people lose the association between the HTML Help files and their browser. Somebody here should be able to tell you how to fix it permanently…keep checking back on this thread.

I posted the exact same problem yesterday but have been unable to find my submission but luckily I saw yours so will keep watching for some answers. I have had this problem for over six months now and have posted requests for help twice but so far no one has solved the problem. The worse feature of the problem is not being able to access the ‘help’ files,

I found my answer, and am embarrased to say how easy it was. I thought it was the program, but all I had to do was open my browser and set it (Internet Explorer) to check that it is the default browser. Next time I opened the browser it said that IE was not my default browser. When I told it to make itself the default browser, all the links in Photoshop started to work. It appears that Photoshop did not have an association to IE to work with, so now it knows which program to open.

James Cupples, I hope this also fixes your problem. If you need help, let me know by this link.

James B….

I knew it was something like that, but I never had that problem, so I never bothered to remember the advice previously posted on these forums about how to fix it.

just a thought, with all the security concerns recently over internet explorer, you might want to consider mozilla (even the dept. of homeland security is recommending using something other than IE!)

Thank you for posting the solution to my problem. I have made I.E. my default browser and as you said this has done the trick. My only other problem is that I would prefer to use another browser as I am not a fan of IE but this may be the price I have to pay . Many thanks for at last putting me out of my misery!.

Right. Any browser will work as long as you set it up in the preferences area to be the default browser.

Except AOL, MSN, don’t know about Opera, Safari seems iffy.

So yeah, except for those…
