I’ve been looking unsuccessfully for the RGB equivalents to typical artist paints. Anyone know of such a site?

Thanks,
Marv

There are several color palettes included in Photoshop. Bring up the swatches palette and then click on the little circle with the arrow in it on the top right of the palette. You should see a list of other color palettes. Their might be something there. I haven’t seen a swatch file that actually uses artists color names for the colors, but they should all be their in one form or another.

You should have a color set that is named "Typical Oils".pcs, or some such in the default folder there in Painter…. (at least there are a lot in Painter 9)

Just load in the .pcs file you want and save it out as a .txt from within painter; it will save out the palette as text. One of the .pcs files in there has a slew of other colors. This was just the palette I use— and I had second thoughts about publishing it after I had already upload the msg. The people at MetaCreations went WAY outta their way to provide such a great set of colors, and I wasn’t about to publish all of them and get someone on my back— I’m probably in enough trouble after yesterday’s post. You should think about upgrading to 9, it’s got some really nice features, but be prepared to rework some of your brushes if you make your own custom ones.

CGforum has a great place to find information on Painter:

cool link. Anyone know the formula for converting RGB, or HEX numbers into HSV?
