when working on photoshop 7 pc suddenly shutdown

Hi,

I installed photoshop 7 on a fully updated winxppro machine. While working with photoshop, pc suddenly shutdown and restart it self. Only happen with photoshop.
Did anyone encountered this problem ?

Sounds like hardware problem. What are the exact specs for that machine.

If it was hardware issue it would happen also with other programs (freehand ect.) Anyway machine spec. are :
p4 1.8 ghz
256 mb sdram
hdd 40 gb
video card nvidia 32 mb
os – winxppro – fully updated.
are those meet minimum requirements for photoshop 7 ?

Not necessarily. Photoshop has been know to exploit weakness is systems that no other programs do. There are several topics on that in the foru.

Anyway machine spec. are :
p4 1.8 ghz
256 mb sdram
hdd 40 gb

The RAM is a bit week, but again, an application can’t bring down the system with XP. Can you please post the info again, with brand names for each.
