Hi

i’ve always had this problem but it’s never hindered me until now so i could really do with fixing it.

when i add a paragraph text box (clicking and dragging) i get the box up on screen but i can’t type more than one line, even if the dimensions of the box are substantially bigger than 2 or more lines. once i reach the end of one line, anything else i type doesn’t appear, and the ‘overflow’ icon appears in the re-size handles. is there something extremely basic i’m missing or do i need some sort of patch? i’ve tried fiddling with the character and paragraph settings but not having any luck.

any help would be greatly appreciated as i’ve got a ‘brochure’ type document to produce which relies heavily on it’s graphical quality and i don’t want to have to use anything other than Photoshop.

thanks

Check that leading is on auto (not some huge number).

If that isn’t a solution, try deleting the preferences (the FAQ tells how).

Thanks Don

it was the leading. i’ve never really experimented much with text in Photoshop so i thought it’d be something quite basic i didn’t know about.

thanks again

Cool. I was thinking the problem also might be space before or after, until I noticed you mentioned it was happening without a return. (Just mentioning that so you, or someone else searching the thread later, might think of that in a different case.)

Great help there Don

I’d also add the fact ( for other thread readers) that as a reminder every Tool has a RESET feature.

It’s quite common, like the Type Tool, with its varied options, options you used on yesturdays job may not apply to todays job.
We never remember them, but Photoshop does, everytime you close it down. Rather than meader around looking for the problematic area.

With the Tool active.
Up on the Options Bar, just below the main menu command options, is the Preset Manger Icon for the active tool.
(Directly below the words ‘File/Edit’)
Right Click on it and choose ‘Reset Tool’.
And that should bring back the defaults for THAT particular tool in question.

On that same right-click you can also choose, ‘Reset All Tools’. You may not want to do that all the time, because options in ,something like the Brush Tool, particularly the Brush Preset, maybe necessary to incorporate into your workflow over a short period of time.

cheers
