I do not know how to make the copyright icon and place it on a photo in Photoshop. I realize it is probably a very simple task, but it escapes my search for the way to do it.

Thanks ,
Will

Easy,
With the type tool selected, hold down the alt key and type the numbers: 0169. You can then move the copyright sign to wherever you wish on the photo.

There are different ways depending on platform. In Windows you can use Character Map or key in Alt+0169. © Can’t remember the Mac equivalent. It also exists as a Custom Shape in Photoshop.

A tip for you: Open a new document and insert the copyright symbol as listed above and add your signature. Save it as a brush and then you can add it to your images by selecting the brush and click where you want the sig to be on the image. You can also resize as necessary depending on the size of the image.

Alt-0169 only works from the keypad. Do a Google search for "Alt Codes" to get a full list of available characters. Also checkout Wingdings and Webdings in your font listing.

Or save it as a Text layer, which would be more editable.

Every copy of Windows comes with Character Map, which is in Accessories. It has all the codes and makes it easy to copy/paste the character you need. I suggest putting a shortcut to it in your Taskbar.

Or just type charmap into the run dialogue.

If you click on the Custom Shape tool, there should be a Copyright shape in the dropdown list on the Properties bar. Or you could load them with the rightarrow. This seems a lot easier plus it’s still editable.

I often can’t remember the alt code for different symbols, but I’ve been able to open an MS Word doc or a web page with the symbol and copy/paste into a PS doc on both Mac and Windows platforms. Seems to work for me every time. :o)

you will find it’s not as easily edited as when you have it in-line with the text

To get a quick reference for the "alt codes" on a windows machine, click on Start menu, Run, type "charmap" enter or OK to open the "Character Map" which shows the Alt+code keystrokes.

Option-G on a Mac. None of this alt-numeric-four-digit-number junk.
