I’ve had this happen before in earlier versions of Photoshop; but I can’t remember how to solve this. I’m using CS and XP. The font size has changed in a couple of files. So it is showing what is really a 12 point font as a 5 point font. All the font sizes are lower than what they really should be. I’ve tested this by typing text in a new file and it shows as 12pts which makes sense. Then I copy that layer into one of the funky files and the font is suddenly 6pts.

A colleague of mine was working on these funky files before he went on vacation. So I have no way of finding out what he might have done that could be causing this.

Any ideas?

check image> image size> resolution (ppi). see if it’s 72ppi (for web) or 300ish (for print) any major diff can cause vector objects (fonts, shapes, etc) to be wildly out of (expected) proportion.

Yes the resolution is oddly 144 even though the file was created at 72. What I’ve noticed since posting the original message is that ALL my existing files are now doing this. Any new files I create today to test this are fine. Any other additional thoughts??

Thanks

Oh, and the other thing is that when I open older files and select text, I get this message which makes no sense and does not change anything if I click ok:

"Editing or rendering the text layer "Event" will cuase its layout to change."

"Event" is the name of the layer I was trying to edit.
