Hi,

I need help using the Color replacement tool in Photoshop CS. When I use the tool, for some reason all the colors seem to look like pastel colors and don’t match the color that I am picking in the swatches . Is there something I can do to make the colors that I am replacing to match with what I am picking?

I recommend using Selective Color over using replace color, personally. Try it out, it works very well.

Tony,

The Color Replacement Tool is using the color that you select, but it’s using the brightness of the original area when applying your new color. (Hope I said that right. It was confusing for me, too, when I first tried it.) In other words, let’s say that you select a new color of dark red, to replace an area of light green. When you apply your new color to the light green area, you will see light red, or pink.

Edit: There have been several recent threads on this. If you do a forum search, you’ll probably find more thorough discussions.
