David,
There is no page tiling option in Photoshop. You would need to Place or Import the image file into an application that supported page tiling, or manually create two documents for the image and print each separately
David,
You can do tiled printing manually in Photoshop, using Photoshop’s standard tools to cut the image into tiles for individual printing. You can carefully trim the individual tiles and assemble them into a large image.
You can assemble just two tiles as you requested or, for larger final images, you can assemble a panoramic row of three, four, or five tiles or you can construct a poster-sized image or even a mural-sized image from a matrix of tiles, starting with 2×2 (4 tiles), or 2×3 (6 tiles) or as many as you have the patience and ink and paper to do.
Using just two tiles as you requested is a good way to get started and you can try more ambitious projects as you perfect your trimming and joining techniques. Obviously each individual tile must fit within the printable area of your printer, but within that restriction you have some freedom in choosing your tile shape and size. People usually use rectangular or square tiles because that’s easier, but you could break out of that mindset and design a picture with more exotically shaped tiles.
The printable area of my printer on an 8.5"x11" letter-sized sheet is just slightly larger than 8×10 so I usually stick with 8×10 or less. I have come to prefer the look of pictures made from square tiles so I usually use 8" x 8" tiles.
If you are interested in doing tiled printing with Photoshop, I will supply the details in a subsequent message. Basically you just use the Rectangular Marquee tool in the Fixed Size style to select and cut the tiles to the exact size with the aid of a custom Grid and Grid Snap. For a seamless final picture your tiles need to be pixel-perfect and Photoshop makes it easy to do that.
