Greetings one and all.

I am new to this NewsGroup and also Photoshop and I would appreciate some help and advice please.

A friend told me to get Photoshop because it would do what I wanted, but he didn’t know how to do it… some friend !

I have 6 small pictures, 75 pixels wide by 100 pixels high.

I want to join them all together in a line and then save them as one .jpg file.

Can it be done and if so, can someone please talk me through it at dummies level please !

You paid $650 for a program you have NO idea how to use and to accomplish one task?

Make the canvas fo the left most image as wide as the 6 images combined. Open each other image and drag onto the canvas, then SAVE AS.

First, welcome to the NG. Second, since you did get your answer to your first question, you might want to point your browser to www.myjanee.com and poke around the tutorials that she has. They cover a wide-gamut of PS operations. There are more sites out there, but her’s is a good place to start.

After you have gotten comfortable with PS, pick up a copy of Adobe PS Classroom in a Book, Adobe Press. It will take you up another level.

Also, regardless of the reception that you received with your first post, do not hesitate to post questions there. You may also want to X-post any question to this and to comp.graphics.apps.photoshop. Many folk monitor both NGs, but not all. Also, many news servers do not offer all possible NGs, so some may only get one of these, but not the other. Also, by X-posting to these two, any answers from one, show up in both.

I think the implication is that you’re using a pirated copy of Photoshop. It does seem dubious that you would spend $650 bucks on an application with no budget for training materials.

Gimp – Free
PSP – $100
A myriad of other image editing suites $101+
Photoshop – $650

A complete lack of knowledge of Photoshop – priceless.

He’ll probably be in here wondering why the keyboard shortcuts stopped working soon.

And if you believe that’s a legit auction I’ve got some ocean front property in Arizona to sell you….

Odd how you never brought up price (even though it’s been brought up twice) until you were forced into a corner. Do keep digging the hole deeper, I’ll keep laughing at you.

If you bought your version from the same eBay source, I notice from his feedback that he has already sold about 10 copies!! presumably with the same serial number!
http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&amp ;userid=coffee2knitting&items=25&page=1&frompage =-1&iid=190019903391&de=off&which=all&interv al=
In fact, when you register your Adobe product they supply a serial number which is unique to you and to your personal details (as far as I can remember, it was the same with version7)

While I agree that the OP has a bogus copy of Photoshop, the idea that someone would pop $650 for something they know nothing about is hardly remarkable.

I have seen people who have seen a Cousteau documentary on TV, think that scuba diving is going to be their thing, blow a couple of thousand on equipment, and then quit on after the first training class because their ears hurt at 10 feet down in the deep end of the pool. Would-be snow skiers do the same thing. People jump from Instamatics to Nikon D70s thinking the Nikon won’t take fuzzy pictures.

People buy $2,000 computers to chat on-line with AOL with other people who knit. People buy Bose radios to listen to Rush Limbaugh and Paul Harvey. They buy Hummers to take their kids to school.

The guy across the street from me bought his first boat…a 28′ sport fisherman. Blew his truck’s transmission the first time he pulled the boat from water because the trailer’s wheel was off the ramp and put a "For Sale" sign on the boat.

Tony, it happens all the time, and for different reasons. I just plonked down US$1500 +/- for Adobe Production Studio. I’ve only recently begun doing NLE of video, but have never used Premier, Audition, After-Effects, etc.

Is there a learning curve? Whoa, is there a learning curve. It’s been so long since I first owned PS, that I do not recall those days. Also, I had PhotoStyler before PS, so I had a leg-up. Right now, I’m plowing through the CIAB series for some of those programs (dang, wish they had one for Audition), and hanging out on the Adobe fora, plus the rather limited NG’s. I’ve asked some simple questions in each, and have been met with understanding and assistance in every case. Many of my posts have been at a very elementary level, and are probably covered someplace in the various manuals and CIAB tomes. No problems with the folk on the fora. Just simple (usually) answers to my questions. As I said, it happens all the time.

As for the_constructor, you might want to have Adobe check out your copy of PS. I hope that it is legit, but somehow doubt it. Good luck, anyway. I’d be plannning on spending some more $, but could be wrong. Whatever you do, if you can use this program, make sure that you get a legit copy of it.
