I am using the free download edition of Photoshop CS. I have a series of scans made in a variety of formats (tiff and jpeg), and they were made on a Mac G-4 with a Nikon scanner, and then burned on a CD.

My problem is that, while my old version, Photoshop 5.0, is able to open them, the Photoshop CS is not able to. A double-click on the icon (there are no thumbnail images) gets me to a dialogue box, but whatever setting I put on it, no image opens.

What is the problem — is it with the settings on Photoshop CS? Why would the images open in Photoshop 5.0, but not in CS?

The computer I am using is a Dell Inspiron 600m, 512 ram, with Windows XP Pro, 60 gig harddrive.

Fred,

Have you tried to open them, not from CD but HD. I know this may defeat the purpose but put them on HD, work with them and resave but delete the originals off the HD.

Try it and see. Your originals are on disc so shouldn’t be corrupted.
