Help-PSCS Browser Can’t Find Some Images in File

I’ve been processing a lot of Raw files + JPEG Basic files (dual files per image from the camera). Suddenly now on the 5th folder of file the @#$#@$ browser flagged a small subset of files (I had not yet started processing them, just opened the folder and the browser created the thumbnails). When I started looking at unflagged files I noticed it started with file#6. Found the others in "flagged" thought "that’s wierd" and unflagged them, since I hadn’t even reviewed them. Now they don’t appear anywere in the browser, flagged or unflagged. More wierdly, the EXACT same file numbers from the NEXT unprocessed folder down the list are also missing in the browser. Of course, the files exist on the computer just fine. Any idea what’s going on, and more importantly how to fix? Rebooting, virus scan do/show nothing. I’m wondering if PS writes some sort of table file to track flagged images and this is somehow screwed up. Or is it some more complex user error? I’ve never had this problem before and have processed many hundreds of images with browser with no problem. Thanks for ideas! Oh — 2.8Pentium 4, 1gb Ram, XP Pro.

OK, Update- After going to the large thumbnail view to look at all of them, I can find the images which have been seemingly randomly distributed around within the browser. So it is seeing them, but in the process of opening and generating the thumbnails, the order of them has been mixed up. What still puzzles me, is why it did the exact same thing (same image numbers put in the same order) to the next folder in this set prior to me doing anything other than clicking on the folder to have it open in browser. Anybody else experience this sort of stuff? BTW, if it makes a difference, I’m using a custom thumbnail size of 300 px.

are they numbered like 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12, etc?

because in computer land that shows as

1 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 2 20 21…

if you want them in order you need to make sure all the files have the same # of digits. so if you have over a 100 but less than a thousand your single digit needs 2 leading zeros – 001 002 003 – to stay in order, 020 021 022 … 100 101 102, etc.
