Hi,
I’m kind of in a jam, stores are closed and i need to scan something. I’m looking for someone who can print a 2 page document and scan it, and email me the image. I need this as soon as possible. If you can help me I will repay somehow.

Thanks

People, myself included, think that you are making a joke, Zorro.

How cam it make sense to print and then scan an electronic document, convert it to an image, and then email it back to you?

On the off chance that you are asking in all seriousness, perhaps you can explain the problem more.

The original document is probably NOT an "electronic document" just something made in Word or another word processor. Possibly the person the OP wants to sent it to can’t open the original document but can read it as a JPEG file.

Hi

Don’t go trying to create a semi reasonable explanation for this stupid request.

If he has a word doc, he can sent it IN an Email or Attach it TO an Email. He can Save it As a whole variety of file Types and send any of them to his victim.

If he gets it printed and then scanned, it will mostly likely end up as a Tiff, not a Jpeg.

If anyone can not read a Word Doc, or any of the other file types available to him, then they probably won’t be able to read a Jpeg or Tiff either.

If he sent his Word Doc to the Windows Office Document Writer, (a virtual device), it would be converted to a Tiff. Exactly as a Printed and Scanned version would be.

He is an idiot.

That may be the case. If so, something like a screen capture is in order, and this is something he can do himself.

The "Zorro" nick, and other things about the post, lead me to think it was a joke post. But perhaps I was wrong. This is why I asked Zorro for more details.

Just a word of caution: if you do get the document attached to an e-mail, which I highly doubt, make sure to scan it with all of the AV and Malware programs, that you have (update those definitions), just in case.

I find it odd that the stores are all closed, but then I do not know from whence Zorro hails.

open the document. hold down the alt key. hit print screen. you now have an image of the page in memory. if you have an image program [comes with windows] PAINT. open PAINT. Hold down the CONTROL key, hit V. save it or do what you want with it.

In the future, don’t multipost to seven groups. If you must, crosspost so that others can see answers that have already been given and don’t waste their time. Also, in the future, if you need to do this again, download the SnagIt 30 day free trial from TechSmith.com. It creates a virtual printer to which you can print and you can save the image in your choice of graphic file formats,up to 600 dpi.

the reason i must crosspost is that i know from experience that people reply with irrelevant advice because they don’t bother fully understanding the question.

someone who would might know the answer won’t bother replying if he sees that 15 people have already replied to the post, thinking "Oh, 15 replies, i’m sure he got his answer"

The local Wal-Mart do it yourself area in the 1 hour photo place could copy them, print them, and put them on disc for him. if it is a real deal… which I doubt! I did not expect to see any more comments from Zorro, but he/she came through with a few. However, none of the questions posed by Mike, et al, were answered. That indicates that this person just wants to start threads in NGs.

the problem here is that people keep assuming things

Why haven’t you solved this yourself?

wrong assumption again – the problem was solved days ago

Why do you NEED a scanned image of a printed document?

why does it matter what i need it for?

What possible solution does that provide?

just because you can’t think of it’s purpose doesn’t mean i don’t have one

if people would’ve just read carefully that one sentence:

– print a 2 page document
– scan it
– email me the image

let me explain in more detail

open document
menu->print
take paper out of printer place in scanner
menu->scan
email->attach->scan.jpg
send

what i need it for is besides the point!
if i had done this at the store, the clerk would not
have asked me why am i doing it for, or that it
doesn’t make sense to him

i was looking for plain and simple help, that’s all
not an interrogation.

– print a 2 page document
– scan it
– email me the image

i didn’t ask how to resolve a problem. i asked for someone to print a paper, scan it and email it – only problem encountered was lack of willingness

That indicates that this person just wants to start threads in NGs.

What makes you think it’s not serious?

Because so far it’s moronic?

I needed a scanned image of a printed document – printed on real paper, not a screenshot – but have neither a printer nor a scanner. So there’s

Why do you NEED a scanned image of a printed document? What possible solution does that provide? If you don’t have a printer how can printing then scanning then emailing you the scan help? Without a printer you now have two copies on your computer and still no way to get it to paper.

nothing to get paranoid about. Just a person asking for help, and the help needed was clearly explained.

If it were clearly explained people wouldn’t continue asking you to explain yourself. What you’ve requested does not solve your need of a hard copy.

Since days have passed from the time you originally posted this the mysterious ‘stores’ you mention have opened and closed at least once. Why haven’t you solved this yourself?

I’m sure you heard the joke "one must never ASSUME"

Why do you NEED a scanned image of a printed document?

why does it matter what i need it for?

What possible solution does that provide?

just because you can’t think of it’s purpose doesn’t mean i don’t have one

if people would’ve just read carefully that one sentence:
– print a 2 page document
– scan it
– email me the image

let me explain in more detail

open document
menu->print
take paper out of printer place in scanner
menu->scan
email->attach->scan.jpg
send

what i need it for is besides the point!
if i had done this at the store, the clerk would not
have asked me why am i doing it for, or that it
doesn’t make sense to him

i was looking for plain and simple help, that’s all
not an interrogation.

– print a 2 page document
– scan it
– email me the image

thank you, you’re very kind

Then WTF didn’t you take it to the store and do exactly what you outlined? Matter of fact, why did you post your question in the first place? You had the answer all along. You just needed to wait until the store was open. If you have a problem, it is you responsibility to furnish details. Begging for someone to "help you out," isn’t good enough kiddo. You asked for help, but didn’t like the answers. That is your problem.

God, I’ll be glad when school starts and this sort of stuff wanes.

What is the difference between the computer file of the document (which you had) and a scan of a printed page of the same document (what you wanted)?

Visually, nothing.

File format – but you could have done that yourself, and you insisted that you had to have a scan of a printed page.

So, what is different in the printed page of the actual ink on paper that is not in the file you had to begin with.

Why does a simple file format change NOT solve your problem?

You can’t understand why people don’t understand your request. But without some unusualy explanation, your request appears to be a request to do something the hard way when you could do it the easy way without assistance.

Why was the file on your ocmputer not acceptable when a scan of the printed file would be? How would it look different?

Have you ever scanned a paper into the computer? Unless you are using special paper, there is no hint of that in the scan. I scan papers all the time, and I don’t have any texture issues in the scan.

The only time I have ever had a texture issue was when scanning a matte photo, the old kind from the 70s that really did have a bumpy texture.

And since you did not request special paper to be printed, it doesn’t sound like that is what you needed. Unless you really just don’t understand the scanning process.

Why didn’t you just say you needed a signature on the printed paper before it was scanned? That would have gotten you a couple replies and then people would have moved on. Instead, you go on and on about paper.

You can’t understand why people don’t understand your request. But

My request was to scan a document. I did not request people to understand what i needed it for.

You said you needed a scan. You failed to mention the most important part of the request, the reason you needed it to be printed before scanned – the forged signature.

Eveyrbody here knew it was obvious that something very important was missing. It was pretty onbvious.

Don’t blame others for your inability to articulate your needs.

like i wrote to another idiot :

You wrote that something like two days after your initial idiocy.

it’s all there in one sentence:

– print a 2 page document
– scan it
– email me the image

what is it that so confuses you?
————–

so what is the inability of others that they have not understood that one sentence?

Once again, your request was moronic.
Not really o’void!

You can easily send a .doc file, and through the three steps get a helpful person to send back an email .jpg.

And that’s still moronic.

"Common sense isn’t!"

There was no common sense involved in his request or his explanations. It turned out to be a case of fraud in case you missed his admission.
What his eventual -=use=- was, had nothing to do with you declaring the process ‘moronic’, just your failure to comprehend that there -=could=- be a valid use for such a need, when the user did not have a scanner at that location.

There was, and he proved this, no valid reason to send a computer file to a person, have them print and scan (you’ll note he never once publicly mentioned that he wanted a name (a name, there’s no proof it was HIS name) forged onto the printed document) said document and then email back the computer file. In fact he stated he needed a hard copy (which was a lie). His request, take this file, print it, scan it, send it back to me, is moronic.
Have mommy read the l;ast from me and explain it to you as to "there -=could=- be a valid reason".

There could be angels flying out of my ass at this very moment. Which is as doubtful as someone asking so cryptic and moronic a request from a group of strangers.

I make no statement on his -=ACTUAL=- intent!

"Simple is as simple does."

Doesn’t say much for you.

Ok, this weirdness has gotten me interested. Find yourself some free web space, geocities.com for instance, and put the document up for download, along with and email address. I will download the document, and if it appears clean, I will print and scan it for you, and send it to you.

He would have to snail-mail them to you ’cause he stated that they are hard copies.
That what I was thinking also…… He will obviously have to mail it to someone first. LOLOL
Seem that the OP didn’t think it through or just got everyone to bite on some bait….

I assume "Zorro" can’t get them into his computer which supposedly is his problem. The local Wal-Mart do it yourself area in the 1 hour photo place could copy them, print them, and put them on disc for him. if it is a real deal… which I doubt! Or, he could take them to school with him and do them there.. I agree that after all this time the stores have opened and closed and the problem should have been resolved by "Zorro" instead of him checking the boards to see how much mileage he can get from this request

Oh, I doubt that the horse is dead. I figure that you will pop up with a new nym and ask another pointless question to see where it goes.

i’ve been answering questions not asking.
the only thing i asked was in post #1

You got your answers, but chose to debate them. I infere that this is mental mastrubation for you and nothing more.

my problem was solved by someone on another group 2 hours after i posted it,
HOW?? Fill us in on how it was done. 🙂

but the nastiness of some people has given me the urge to kick their butt

Hi,
I’m kind of in a jam, stores are closed and i need to scan something. I’m looking for someone who can print a 2 page document and scan it, and email me the image. I need this as soon as possible. If you can help me I will repay somehow.

Thanks

Sure, I’m happy to help you out. Just print the document out, scan it and then email it to me. I’ll print it on real paper, scan it and send it back to you. No problem. Glad I could help.
