Is it possible to move text to the other side of a path without it flipping. I’m trying to put text on the other side of a concave path. It puts it on the top side of the path. When I move it to the other side, it turns it upside down with the word starting on the right instead of the left. I need the text to follow the curve of the bottom of a circle with the text right-side up. Any help anybody has would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm… Haven’t done this in Photoshop but in InDesign there are options to move the text either on the top, middle or bottom.

Isn’t it possible to make the path you are trying to work with again but curving in the opposite direction then type the text and flip it to the other side or just make the size of the path smaller so that it ends up where you want it?

I guess that wouldn’t work either the upside down thing. It only ends up the same as before.

Please wait, I’ll be right back. I am going to try it myself and see how this can work.

I apologize but I have an old version of Photoshop (version 5.5) and I don’t think there is a "Type on Path" tool in that one.

Not your bad…his.

The text on a path tool is nice addition in CS but doesn’t have the same funtionality as Illustrator or InDesign. If you need something fancy, you’re still better off doing it outside of Photoshop.

William,

Works fine here, at least if I understand what you are trying to achieve (English is not my native language)
First drag the text to the bottom of the circle (Direct Selection Tool). Now the text is the right-side up but on the inside of the circle. Use the baseline shift to lower the text so it is on the outside of the circle.

Hope this helps,

Ronald,

the baseline shift thing did the trick. Thank you very much. You’ve saved me another day of headaches.

My bad Gabriel

My bad not yours. I’m trying to help but everyone here is using something fresher than what my employer has provided me with. Since we don’t use Photoshop much here, there is no justification to upgrade it.

As far as type features go, I use InDesign for that when I need it.

Regretfully I couldn’t provide improved help.

I’m pleased to see you got it resolved.
