I apologize if this has been asked before. I did search the forums but didnt find anything.

I simply want to draw a rectangle and smooth the corners say 3px and give it a stroke of 2px wide for a 2px rounded corner rectangle. Now I can create the rectangle and the rounded corners but I heard there is a way to have adobe smooth out the corner so its not so jagged. I think its done with the channels but I can find a tutorial on this.

Can anyone tell me how step by step. I would be much appreciated.

Also if anyone has a good place for new filters that would be great to.

thanks,

What version of Photoshop are you using? As of version 6+, you can use the Rounded Rectangle Shape tool to accomplish this. For versions less than 6, here is a step by step approach that might be of use:

If I’m not mistaken, I believe you can simply create a rectangular selection, then apply an "edit>selection>smooth" (I can’t recall the menu item). From there you can create a layer and apply a layer style with a "stroke" style.

What have you been doing? There were no less than 3 alternatives given to you. Here’s another alternative:

Draw your rectangle… select ractangle… go to the channel pallet.. create a new channel based on the selection… blur… crunch levels.. voila.

…or something to that effect. :

I have read all the advice on how to round corners but still do not understand it. Sorry but maybe because I am using Photoshop Elements 2.0 the procedure is different.

I see the rounded rectangle tool and am able to draw the rectangle on my picture but I am unable to go from there to having my picture have rounded corners (I want to use it on a label with rounded corners).

Any advice or "How To" would be very much appreciated!!
