Any way to reverse two colors within a selection ?

Is there any way to create a selection, filter, mask, or possibly a shape that when placed on a top layer will reverse two colors below it ? Heres a quick pic of what Im talking about ?

Not in a general way, because the filter/adjustment/whatever would have to evaluate the entire selection, determine there are only two colours, then swap one for the other. It’s that second stage that would be tricky, becuase how do you accound for a third colour, whether it’s a result of a noisy scan, antialiasing, or poor choise of selection. It could be written, but for shat I expect to be a very small market, who would bother.

In your example, you cound flip horizontal or rotate 180 degrees.

Try adding a Hue/Sat adjustment layer with Hue set to -180. Use the adjustment layer mask to limit the effect (as shown in the example).

Mike,

In the example you chose, "reversing" the colors is easy because

(1)You are dealing with only two colors in the entire area

(2)The colors happen to be "inverses" of each other

All you need to do in the case you cited is to create a rectangular marquee covering the area you want affected and then click Image > Adjustments > Invert.

Probably your interest goes beyond the simplistic case of initial colors which are inverses of each other but, then again, that
IS the example you used and you just might find this a useful quickie.
