I am in the process of building a website…I know very little so this will not be as easy as I hoped. My first problem of many is my logo. I scanned it in off an envelope and tried to clean it up a little and post it on the site…it looks awful! I did manage to make the background transparent but the logo still looks terrible. Can anyone help with this or tell me how to fix this? Any helpo would ge greatly appreciated.

Where is the original??

I’ll bet it does!

If this is your logo, you must have obtained it from somewhere, unless you are actually saying you copied one from an envelope!!!! –

You need to get another digital copy from where-ever the Logo originated! preferably in vector format.

If you cannot do that! it sounds like you are going to have to pay someone to create a new one!

Your best bet is probably to recreate the logo by tracing it over again at a higher resolution. The best way to accomplish this is probably by using the pen tool, which takes some figuring out but is well worth the effort. Or you can create a new layer, set the transparency to 50, and paint using the old logo as a guide.

If you want to try to clean it up in Photoshop, here’s a tutorial http://www.steeldolphin.com/tutorials_photoshop.php

Here’s an old trick from Kai’s Power Tips that might be helpful. http://www.mprove.de/script/90/KPT/KPT4.html

Kai’s tips are still well worth the reading. Kai later went on to do other things, then sold the whole kit and caboodle and bought a castle in Germany. Everyone’s dream come true, I guess.

it puzzles me…that so many people ask a question…then never follow up when given good advise! I for one would like to hear how they solve there problem.

This is very normal. Most responses do not get a follow up response, and not sending a "thanks" is actually (a rather silly) part of netiquette.

I think it often happens, too, that a new person will post a question, and then not find the response. Or they may just solve it on their own.

Thanks for your comment.
