suddenly text I type or past into Photoshop is in capitals, while the caps lock is off. When I type in a text editor everything is fine, but not in Photoshop.

Mac, system 9, photoshop 6.01

What is the matter, does somebody know?

In the Character Palette in Photoshop, you can set ‘All Caps’ in the pop-up menu under the small arrow in the top right side. That probably happened by mistake.

aaahh, yes, thank jou. I didn’t realize the content of the popup changed, I checked it and only saw hyphenation / justification options.
