Color Bitmap – make small

I need to make a RGB bitmap for a software application. How can I get the file size down like I can with a .jpg.

Currently .bmp file I created is 457 k
..jpg 19 k.

I’d be happy to get it under 100 K at least.

19 kb is under 100 kb, sop congratulations! Do you need the image to be a BMP file? If so, then you have only the options available in Photoshop. Try making the image indexed colour, first.
