I give up. Does anyone know how to control the jpg quality that is used in the Web Gallery?

I have tried changing the default Optimization settings in both Image Ready and in the Save For Web Dialog box.

Neither seems to reliably effect the quality of the Web Gallery generated jpgs.

Simple example: take a tif file. Save for the Web (say you have the JPG setting at High. Through Save for The Web, the file size is 100K)

Now you take the same Tif file and use it to generate a jpg through the Web Gallery mechanism and the file size of the jpg is half the size.

Can the optimization of the files generated by Web Gallery be controlled?

From the Help file:

a.. To set options for the gallery pages, choose Large Images from the Options pop-up menu. Then do the following:
a.. To have Photoshop resize the source images for placement on the gallery pages, select Resize Images. Then choose an option for the image size from the pop-up menu or enter a size in pixels. For Constrain, choose which dimensions of the image you want to constrain during resizing. For JPEG Quality, choose an option from the pop-up menu, enter a value between 0 and 12, or drag the slider. A higher value results in better image quality but larger file size.
b.. For Border Size, enter the width of the border around the image in pixels.
c.. For Titles Use, specify options to display caption information under each image. Select Filename to display the filename, or select Description, Credits, Title, and Copyright to display description text drawn from the File Info dialog box.

Thank you! I had the resize box turned off which is why I didn’t see the quality setting. Phew. Now they look good.

Dave,

Glad you have it sorted, but I would point out that if I can look in the help file, so can you…and thus get an answer quicker than posting here in the hope that someone will answer your question.
